The second group for 2024 has kicked off on the My Voice, My Journey program, with 20 new participants from Walbunja-Yuin Country (Narooma & Batemans Bay).

At the introduction day, the group were familiarised with the MVMJ program held at UOW Campus Batemans Bay. Program director Todman Chatfield briefed participants on what to expect over the coming months and described all of the great things to expect. After watching one of the documentaries from the 2023 Journey, the group enjoyed some lunch and pulled a face or two on the GoPro!

Local filmmaker Adrian Fisse described some of the filming production process and how they would be collaborating in the production of a new documentary.

The group is scheduled mid October to embark on an epic trip through the Blue Mountains, Central Coast and up to the Gold Coast – with an intensive schedule of cultural activities and bonding throughout. In the weeks leading up to the big trip, they’ve been meeting on Wednesdays for cultural activities and team building sessions – it’s been a lot of fun!

The big cook-off!

Here’s some photos of the cook off day. The MVMJ group was allocated into 4 teams – who planned what they’d prepare and helped shop for the ingredients.

Some of the girls made mexican nourish bowls, a tasty seafood curry (made to Bucko’s special recipe), and deserts while the boys focussed their efforts on some hamburgers. There was no clear winner however – Campbell Page staff and the MVMJ team all concluded it was too hard to decide.
