On Friday evening December 1 2023 participants from two My Voice, My Journey programs took the spotlight at the highly anticipated My Voice My Journey film premiere hosted at the Bay Pavilions in Batemans Bay, Eurobodalla.

With over 200 attendees gathered to celebrate the culmination of two transformative programs, the evening was a testament to the growth of all our young leaders who took part in the 2022 and 2023 My Voice My, Journey Programs.

From cultural dances to artwork created in the programs, participants showcased their resilience and growth since completing the Program. The two documentaries gave the audience an insight into the transformation of our young people.

“The fact that our young people were so involved in the evening and were not afraid to show who they are in front of a large crowd speaks volumes as to how far they have come. That confidence embodied by the young people flows through to all the community, and we are very proud of all our young people.”

Todd Chatfield, Founder and Manager of My Voice, My Journey.

Melissa Ellis, serving as the MC for the evening, kept the audience engaged and entertained throughout the event. The musical talents of Sam Ellis, a participant in the 2022 program, filled the theater with soul-stirring melodies, while Eurobodalla’s Djinama Yilaga Choir added their harmonious voices to the festivities.

Among the distinguished guests were friends and families of the program participants, filmmakers, government representatives including Mayor Mathew Hatcher and Fiona Phillips MP, as well as representatives from philanthropic organizations and supporters of the program. Mulahda Gamara set the tone for the evening with a heartfelt Welcome to Country.

With their voices amplified and their talents showcased, we are very proud of how far our young leaders have come and excited to see the positive impact they will continue to have in their communities and beyond. When culture, resilience, and empowerment converge the future is bright for our young people.
